Trojan women earn fourth place

The Troy women’s golf team placed fourth out of 12 teams at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship in Macon, Georgia.

The Trojans finished three shots behind the host Mercer Bears, who claimed first place on Tuesday, and shot an overall 304-293-303.

Senior Fátima Fernandez Cano led the Trojans, tying for second place with an even par of 216. She shot a 1-over 73 in the first round, followed by a 3-under 69 in the second.

Cano was one of only two players in the tournament to shoot three under par in a round. Cano closed out the tournament with a 2-over 74 in the final round.

Following Cano’s performance were Becca Horner and Gabi Oubre, who finished in a tie for 17th and a tie for 21st, respectively. The two seniors shot 73-75-79 and 76-77-75. Horner carded an 11-over 227, while Oubre wrapped up the tournament with a 12-over 228.

Sophomores Bianca Lohbauaer and Lindsey Harrison wrapped up the final round of play by tying for 31st and a tie for 53rd. Lohbauaer carded a 15-over 231, while Harrison carded a 23-over 239.

Closing out the lineup for the Trojans were sophomores Antonia Poate and Bria Jansen. The duo closed out for the Trojans in a tie for 60th and 63rd, respectively, with a 30-over 246 and a 31-over 247.

This tournament wrapped up the fall season for the Trojans. Women’s golf now will look ahead to Feb. 26 of next year, when they travel to Kiawah Island, South Carolina, for its next regular season competition.
